Eagle Classes - Years 3 & 4
This term we will be stepping back further in time to the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. The children will learn how humans first survived and how this has impacted on present day.
I AM WARRIOR!
This term the children will be travelling back to Roman Times exploring Mount Vesuvius and its impact on Pompeii. We will also be looking at why the Roman Empire was so successful and why did they come to Britain. The children will also be creating their own mosaics and learning how Romans lived.
We will then venture on following the story of Anglo-Saxons and Vikings.
Welcome back to the first term of the year!
This term our theme is ‘Flow’ and we will be exploring how rivers start, the journey they take and where that journey ends. We will also be finding out about rocks and light in Science. In Maths we will be looking at place value and then cover the four operations in depth, so all children have a secure and deep understanding before moving onto trickier maths. In English we will be using rich texts to develop the children’s speaking and listening, reading and writing.
PE will continue to take place twice a week. PE days can be varied as a result of the weather so please make sure that your child has their kit in school at all times. For both of these lessons children need full PE kit which should include shorts, T-shirt, socks, warm tracksuit bottoms, a warm jumper/hoodie and trainers.
Homework will be handed out on a Wednesday and should be handed in the following Monday morning. It is really important that your child takes responsibility for neatly completing and handing in homework on time. Spellings will be sent home with specific arrangements for each class.
Please make sure your child brings their reading book home and that it comes into school every day. Reading records will be checked on a weekly basis and signed by either ourselves or a TA to say that we have seen them. Children will be rewarded 2 house points for reading 5 times a week.
Every child should have a water bottle in school and they need to be clearly labelled as they are kept by the sink in the classroom. If you need a water bottle they can be bought for £1 at the school office.
Finally, we warmly invite you to an information afternoon on Wednesday 12th September at 2.30pm where we will share information with you about expectations in Year 3 and 4.
As ever, if you have any queries or concerns, please contact us.

At St David's we try and turn as many cogs as possible throughout the day, as a result we become better learners.
