Welcome back to the first term of the year, we hope you had a lovely summer break. We are looking forward to the year ahead. To kick-start the term we are going to be focusing on the story 'Room on the Broom' by Julia Donaldson. We will be practising sentence writing, letter sounds, counting, ordering numbers and number formation.

Can you remember what happened to the witch and who she met on her journey?

Room on the Broom- Julia Donaldson

To the annoyance of her cat a kindly witch allows a dog,a bird and a frog who have helped her retrieve things she has lost to ride on her broomstick, making it top heavy. The broom is destroyed by a fire-breathing dragon who threatens to eat the witch but the creatures band together to impersonate a monster and save her.

Term 1: Moon Zoom!

We explored space crafts and investigated scattered scientific specimens. We learnt about the different planets and had surprise visitors from outer space!

Term 2: Towers, Tunnels and Turrets!

This term, we are going to be exploring what it was like to live in a castle with its thick walls. What we might have seen from high up in the towers and what life was like all those years ago.

We will enjoy listening to and learning many traditional tales, like Rapunzel, who of course was famous for letting her down as a ladder when she was locked up in the castle tower.

We will also be digging deep to underground habitats, where we will find out about animals who make burrows and tunnels.

What an adventure it is going to be!
