Owl Classes - Years 5 & 6

Summer Term Letter

Summer Term

Our Ancient Egyptians theme will keep us busy in Year 5 and 6 over the next term.  We will be finding out what life was like over 5,000 years ago in this ancient civilisation. Our research will lead to us to unearthing Tutankhamun's tomb which will then  inform our chronological report writing.  Mummification will help us understand how the Egyptians preserved their people. We will also look at how they used hieroglyphs as their way of communicating and then have a go at writing in this style. In addition to this, we will look at the daily life style and much more! Our theme will culminate in a production based on Ancient Egypt.

Down Under

Welcome to our new theme for the spring term 'Down Under'.  We will be exploring the landscape of Australia through the book 'Are We There Yet?' by Alison Lester.  We will be writing diaries, non-chronological reports and poetry all linked to our theme.

World War Two

A siren goes off, the luftwaffe are overhead, bombs are falling, buildings are crumbling.  Take cover! Britain is at war.

We are going to be finding out what life was like for a child during the second world war.   We will find out what it was like to be an evacuee, what the food was like and how they lived from day to day.

We will keep you up to date on our journey through the war years through to the day that peace is declared.
