Science
Our Science curriculum provides the foundation for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.
At St-David's, pupils are taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science. Our pupils acquire a key body of knowledge and concepts which enable them to recognise the power of rational explanation, as well as developing a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena.
Our pupils are encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave and analyse causes. Our principle aim is to develop children’s knowledge, understanding and skills, as well as a sense of enjoyment. We encourage children to ask, as well as answer, scientific questions. Where ever possible we involve pupils in practical activities as these increase enthusiasm, motivation and provide first hand experiences.
