School Games Mascot Competition
All of the children in school took part in a competition to see if they could create a mascot for the Gloucestershire School Games. Taking our inspiration from Wenlock and Mandeville, the 2012 London Olympic Games mascots, we set about creating designs that would reflect the spirit of the School Games (determination, honesty, passion, respect, self-belief, teamwork).
The quality of the designs was amazing. As a school we could only send in three entries, so the staff had a very difficult time selecting three mascots from hundreds of entries.
The winning designs from school, which have been sent in to the competition organisers, were from Flossie Scandolo in Year 2, Phoebe Brazil in Year 4 and Libby Payne in Year 6. They have all received fantastic ‘sporty’ prizes. Well done to the runners up, Tyler Hyde, Joshua Hardwick and Megan Gibson, who fully deserved their prizes.
You can see the three designs below that the school entered for the competition. The children are waiting to hear if they have been successful in having one of their designs selected as the School Games mascot.
